Most forensic builders avoid high-end PC hardware and call it "tacky" in a lab. That limits them to parts that can't keep up with the best components on the market. We embrace high-end hardware — and we put the RGB to work, using it to flag thermal and hardware issues at a glance.

A lot of vendors push dual Xeon or Threadripper builds for the core count. Those chips are excellent for servers and specialized workloads, but they're the wrong tool for the average examiner. Mainstream forensic software — Magnet AXIOM, Cellebrite Inseyets, and the like — doesn't scale across dozens of cores. It rewards fast cores. More cores mean lower clocks; fewer, faster cores win. Our builds run an Intel Core Ultra 9 boosting to 5.7 GHz, versus the ~3 GHz range typical of high-core-count workstation chips — and without the thermal throttling those builds are known for.

Time is money. A machine built for your workflow beats one that'll "mostly" do the job.
